Debugging like a pro

We’ve all been in this situation: a bug comes in, something is not doing what it should be doing. What do you do? Well, ask for more details of course, maybe add some more logging, try to reproduce it, maybe look at the git history to see what might have introduced the bug. And what if all of that doesn’t work? Maybe you take a look at the suspected code? Try and trigger it and then use the debugger to step through and see how the code actually behaves? Wow, that all sounds like a lot of work and a lot of time spent! Could there be another way? A way to not have to spend so much time on bug investigation?

In this training, we will explore techniques and tools that help you find bugs faster. We’ll discuss some theory, including tips on how to prevent creating whole categories bugs in the first place. We’ll also spend quite some time hands-on to hone your skills in spending as little time as possible in finding and fixing bugs.
