Prevent  blackouts through secure data exchange

Yuma and ENTSO-E

The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-e) coordinates and develops the European electricity transmission network. Their goal is to ensure a reliable, sustainable, and interconnected energy system in Europe.

ENTSO-E, together with a Yuma Hybrid Teamdeveloped the Operational Planning Data Management (OPDM) platform. This data platform enables the exchange of high-quality data about the operational status of the European electricity grid in near real-time between 39 European Transmission System Operators (TSOs). Given the critical nature of electricity transmission, timely data provision and processing with strict quality assurance are essential to prevent blackouts and grid incidents.

A distributed deployment across 39 countries

The agile project approach enabled ENTSO-E to deliver the platform rapidly and on schedule, ensuring continuous adaptation to evolving requirements.

Despite the complexity of the platform, which required a distributed deployment across the infrastructures of all 39 European TSOs, YUMA provided a hybrid project team that consistently met challenges. The first release was delivered in just six months, allowing ENTSO-E to officially launch the CGM program.

After more than 8 years of working together, the Hybrid Team composition evolved to match ENTSO-E's needs. We initially focused on solution and software architecture and now we prioritize adaptive maintenance and support.

Day to day management of the European power grid made easier

Thanks to the collaborative work between Yuma’s Hybrid Team and ENTSO-E’s project team, OPDM is a stable and high-performance solution despite the technical complexities involved. It supports all initiatives aimed at improving the day-to-day management of the European electricity grid,  implemented by ENTSO-E and the European TSOs.

The platform fosters close collaboration between TSOs, ensuring that each operator aligns the data from their region with neighboring TSOs to maintain a stable and secure power system across Europe.
